Top 10 picks for Campus Party Berlin 2012 with Airtime software

Campus Party organizes educational festivals focused on new technologies and the Internet. However, these events are not what you might expect from a bunch of so-called “geeks”. Since 1997 Campus Party has transformed into a worldwide event that draws over 10,000 individuals from across Europe, think Glastonbury Festival  but for technology. This week Campus Party descends on Berlin for the first time. Starting Tuesday August 21 those interested in all things technology should prepare themselves for a week-long “camp out” and around the clock hack jam in Tempelhof.

Airtime at SoundCloud's Audio Hack Day

Sourcefabric will be presenting the latest version of the software Airtime this Thursday as part of SoundCloud’s event Audio Hack Day.  We are excited to be showcased alongside a roster of other groups whose general focus is based on the wide perimeters of experimental audio and API hacking for audio. Aside from us you can catch folks from the Music Technology Group, at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra and  The School of Electronic Engineering and Computer Science at Queen Mary University of London. Musicmetric aggregators and analyzers of music related information on the web. Plus The Museum of Sound initiated by Matthew Herbert,  Twilio who brings voice and messaging to your web and mobile applications, Mozilla and of course members of SoundCloud will all be presenting throughout the day.

In preview of this gargantuan celebration of technology, here is a round up of some not-to-be-missed events taking place throughout the week:

1. Keynote Speakers. Tim Berners-Lee, that’s right, inventor of the World Wide Web will be speaking this Saturday at the O2 Main Stage. In both disciplinary and subjective contrast, Paulo Coelho, one of the most influential writers of our time and author of The Alchemist will explain How the new media interfere in the creative process on Wednesday.
2. At the Galileo stage the Campus Party balloon designed by robotic engineers and astronomers will take aerial photography from above Tempelhof, and across Europe throughout the week.
3. At the Cyborg sessions, catch performances by the original Sonic Cyborg, Onyx Ashanti and a chance to output some 3D printed designs in his workshop.
4.  The Steampunk mod workshop at the Galileo Stage will share this punky revival aesthetic and how to mod your gear, for instance by constructing an iPhone Horn.
5. During the biohacking sessions at the Leonardo stage stop by to grab a “tasty-tweet”. A drink concoction whose recipe is taken from the amount of twitter mentions of various fruits.
6.  At the Michelangelo stage recycling friendly Potipoti will design accessories for tech gear made from old Campus Party materials.
7.  Join the Impossible Project workshop at the Michelangelo stage, specializing in film for Polaroid cameras and you will leave with some tips and cool pics.
8.  John Draper, AKA Cap'n Crunch and pioneering hacker will discuss his "Secret Numbers" methodology never before revealed at the Pythagoras stage.
9.  Sam Muirhead who challenged himself with a Year Of Open Source will present his survival kit, providing you with solutions to get you through 6 days of open source living at the Socrates stage.
10. The "Embarrassment Filter" workshop protects you from embarrassing situations involving your browsing history in day to day life. A special how to session run by Christian Smorra at the Archimedes Stage.
