St Kilda Village StripFest launches Human Voices Radio with Airtime
For the first time, from 23 to 30 August the community-based arts festival St Kilda Village StripFest will take place in St Kilda, Melbourne.
The festival offers art on the shopping strip: performances, installations, exhibitions, screenings and readings will entertain families, seniors, art lovers, non-art lovers and the local community as a whole. It involves local artists, arts companies, community groups and venues, working collaboratively with businesses and local trade.
Festival Director Amanda Kelly will also launch the pilot of her radio station at the festival: Human Voices Radio. Between 10:00 am and 12:00 pm AEST, she will broadcast stories from locals and festival visitors about their connection to St Kilda. This unique radio broadcast will be run using Airtime software. Tune in and catch a glimpse of the festival!
She decided to launch HVR at StripFest because it's an excellent opportunity to include the community in a different way in the festival. At the same time, the Festival has similar goals to HVR - to celebrate local community and arts. They'll be broadcasting stories from locals and visitors who have a connection with St Kilda.
Amanda Kelly told us that "Airtime is the perfect software to use for HVR and the festival." Because the project is still in its infancy she wants to test everything first and by using Airtime she is taking advantage of the hosted service so that her investment can grow with the stations listener base. As a veteran radio broadcaster herself, Airtime's familiar interface has allowed her to get started programming very quickly! We are looking forward to the upcoming launch of Human Voices Radio and watching them grow alongside the St. Kilda Village StripFest.
