Developers live: Airtime Radio at Codemotion Berlin
Last week we performed a new and very exciting experiment using Airtime at Codemotion Berlin. Codemotion Berlin is an innovative tech event engaging developers and designers. It is geared towards all languages and technologies through presentations and conversations about mobile, web, Makers, startup ideas, game development and creative coding. We decided to broadcast a live radio station for two days and highlight some of the exciting events with a wider audience online.
We received some great feedback and were able to record quite a few interviews. You can now listen to our broadcast of the OpenTechSchool presentation, the interview with Codemotion co-founder Chiara, and with our lovely guest, DJ Brenda on our SoundCloud account.
We had hundreds of listeners tuning in and at some point the load was so heavy, we had to upgrade our own account to deal with the traffic. It was a great experience watching the listener stats climbing higher and higher and skyrocketed during the live broadcast of the hackathon and startup award ceremony. What a great outcome for an experimental project where we didn't know what to expect in the beginning!
Due to the success of this event, we are now planning to offer live event radio coverage in the future and are working on training sessions and customised packages that would allow anyone running an event to broadcast from their smartphones and share the event with a much wider audience online. The Codemotion radio stream will be handed over to the event team so they can use it forward at future events and keep the content alive.
